On The Cheap Barcelona is cheap and easy. Stay free at hostels and eat a delicious meal for under 5 euros. Barcelona offers lots of tourist attractions for free and is overwhelmed in historical as well as modern culture appealing to all types and preferences. I just got back from a four day trip to Barcelona. It was fabulous. The city has everything you could possible want - partying, chill time, good food, cheap place to stay, tons of stuff to see...everything! Cheap Hostel I stayed at the Sea Point Hostel. From the entrance to the hostel you walk out the door to the beach and ocean. ![]() I paid $23.10 per night. If you want to stay for free just be willing to do a little help around the hostel and it's free! Room cleaning and breakfast will allow you to stay with them for nothing. The bottom sheet is free but you have to pay for the blanket, towel and lock for the locker. I bought my own blanket (a small flannel throw which didn't take up much room in the suitcase) and towel (actually, I bought a hand towel and face cloth). The in-room storage lockers are huge, both a medium and large suitcase will fit comfortably in it with plenty of room to spare for your purse, messenger bag, or whatever you keep your laptop in. I never ate breakfast there. The first morning I made it there five minutes before 10:00am and was told I was too late even though breakfast officially ends at 10:00am. ![]() The Open Air Market off the Rambla, Mercat de la Boqueria Barcelona has one of the largest open air markets in Europe. Get a fresh juice for 1 euro. Tons of choices from coconut and dragon fruit juice to kiwi juice or strawberry juice. Or if you you have a sweet tooth try their chocolate. I bought two chocolate roses for 2.80. Not cheap, but something different. There are several cafes serving all kinds of goodies within the market. Tons of meat shops and any sort of food you can imagine. Chocolate I bought some fabulous chocolate at Cacao Sampaka. They make their own chocolate. I bought two kinds. Rose chocolate which had a bit of a crackle to it and a really good mint chocolate, so good that I went back for more. 100 grams costs 2.95 euros. It includes thin, long and rectangular slices of some of the best chocolate you've ever had melt in your mouth. A little piece of chocolate heaven. There are seven stores throughout Europe. They even have a store in Berlin. You can also buy any kind of chocolate you desire from the open air market. It's mouth watering! Graffiti Art Barcelona embraces graffiti and street art. It flourishes and can be seen everywhere. Stores hire graffiti artists to paint a mural on the steel grate which secures the store. It makes for beautiful art and attractive streets when the stores are closed. This graffiti art also changes what you see from day to night since some shops are open during the day - such as stores - while others don't open until evening - such as bars. So the graffiti murals which are displayed during the day are different from those displayed at night. ![]() If you have enjoyed this article, consider leaving a donation. I love giving to you. I also love receiving. All the best!
