My Teenager's First Job Online Jobs for Teens
This past October, Sophie turned 16-years-old. I hadn't really thought too much about her working before then. I think I assumed she'd start working to some degree. Although, I'm not too keen on her working a part-time job as it can take away from school activities, study time, family times as well as interfere with travel plans. Nonetheless, the day Sophie turned 16-years-old something inside me clicked and said 'this kid needs to make her own money'. Sophie has been making and wearing dreadlocks for several months now. She's got quite a talent for making dreadlocks and the quality of her dreads is excellent. We've never had a dread fall apart yet. A nice, solid, well-made product which looks great. While there may be a lot of people out there who make them, we have found that there aren't a lot of people who make them well. It takes time to make dreadlocks right. Sophie puts that time in. She decided to start selling her dreads. It is working out well for her. Since she's too young to have her own site, I do all the customer service and purchasing of raw materials. Her job is pretty much just to make the dreads. We came up with the price points together based on the cost and time it takes to make each dreadlock. I package them. She ships them off. All of her financial transactions are kept on a spreadsheet. This way we can keep a running tally of her income. Online jobs for teens can work out well for the teen as well as fit into her life and study schedule. This form of teen employment has worked out very well for both of us. She can make the dreadlocks when she has the time. She may want to take a break from homework, giving her the time to fill an order, or she may have some other free time which she can then use to makes dreads for her customers. Having a teen job allows Sophie the freedom to earn while not being forced into a strict schedule. It also teaches her how to make money online and to be her own boss. It allows her the opportunity to work from home and make money online doing something she is both good at and enjoys. From our experience, online jobs for teens teaches teens about self-employment and financial freedom to create one's own schedule has been a great way to introduce Sophie into the world of financial responsibility and self-made opportunities. Sophie can make the dreadlocks in pretty much any color you can imagine. Since Sophie's dreadlocks are custom-made, you just need to let her know the length and thickness you desire so you can have exactly the look you want! Sophie only uses Kanekalon when making synthetic dreads. She also makes wool dreads in a variety of colors and styles.
