Marche de Noel (Christmas Market) Strasbourg is knows for having the finest Marche de Noel in France for good reason. It's so large that it takes up blocks of the city and seems to spout new roots in some of the most beautiful locations in the center of the Strasbourg - which is so lovely that the entire city has been deemed a World Heritage Site. There are about 7 locations in Strasbourg where the Marche de Noel is situated. The two largest Marche de Noels are located in front of the 15th century Cathedrale, (the fourth tallest church in the world), and in front of the Opera House where the Marche de Noel spans along the entire 2-3 block corridor welcoming those in search of santa shaped, sugar frosted gingerbread, Christmas tree ornaments, bees wax candles, Vin Chaud (Hot Wine), Jus d'Orange Chaud (Hot Orange Juice), handmade wooden toys, fine chocolates, crepes filled with Nutella and sprinkled with powdered sugar, and just about anything else you can think of that might send your heart deep into the holiday spirit. Sophie and I have spent many days meandering through the Marche de Noels people watching and browsing in awe over all the delights the vendors have thoughtfully and beautifully displayed for our pleasurable buying experience. If you visit France in during the holiday season, be sure to stop by the town's local Marche de Noel. Christmas Markets can be found throughout France and each is unique with it's own special flavors and flare. Each wooden kiosk is individually decorated by the vendor which allows a particular unity of flow between all the kiosks while adding a personalized touch, as well. The photos on this page are some that I took of our local Marche de Noel here in Strasbourg, France. Enjoy!
