(Cathedrale de Strasbourg)
The Cathedrale Strasbourg is a Roman Catholic cathedral that is widely considered to be among the finest examples of high, or late Gothic architecture, although considerable parts of the Cathedrale Strasbourg are in Romanesque architecture. The official name of the Strasbourg Cathedral is the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg (French: Cathedrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg). The cathedral is most often referred to as the Strasbourg Cathedral or, in here in France, the Cathedrale de Strasbourg.
The Strasbourg Cathedral is an overwhelmingly large structure that one finds almost impossible to fit into the lens of a camera. The best one can do is to capture bits of pieces of it's beauty at one time, just as Victor Hugo described the Cathedrale de Strasbourg to be a "gigantic and delicate marvel". When standing at the base of the cathedral one begins to appreciate the beauty and intricate facade which stands 472 ft (142M) and took 424 years to complete. On a hazy late night, the top of the cathedral is not visible appearing to reach it's ominously gothic arms deep into the night's sky and giving the passerby the feeling they might be in Dracula's land of decent.
